LIVERPOOL'S WATERFRONT RENAISSANCE UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT
Publish Date: 13.06.2007
The transformation of a world-class waterfront will be heralded by The Mersey Partnership today, Wednesday 13 June, at the start of the World Canals Conference in Liverpool.
The three-day event at the Crowne Plaza has been organised by the Inland Waterways Association and will feature invited regeneration specialists from around the country.
Liverpool's Waterfront Renaissance will come under the spotlight when Dave Moorcroft, Acting Chief Executive of The Mersey Partnership (TMP) takes to the stage.
Mr Moorcroft said; "It's an exciting time for the Liverpool City Region, and our unique coastline is right at the forefront of this amazing transformation.
"The Mersey Waterfront programme, which is hosted by TMP, recently unveiled 91million pounds worth of investment in 135km coastline over next three years. Added to that, there's ACC Liverpool, the new cruise liner facility, the revived canal link, and many more waterside projects which will be up and running in Capital of Culture year.
"The message I want to press home at today's conference is the added value these developments will bring to the City's Region's 1billion pound tourist economy, and the key role our waterfront has in reinforcing our international reputation."
