Since 2003 The Mersey Waterfront programme has already contributed significantly to development and investment in the region. Now in its second phase of activity Mersey Waterfront’s strategic framework focuses the programme to 2020.
Working towards 2020 the programme will further unite the Waterfront’s disparate parts, binding together its unique elements. At the heart of this vibrant future will be sustainable development, the protection of natural resources, and an increasing recognition of our heritage and identity.
The framework was developed under consultation with key public, private and voluntary organisations on the waterfront.
To direct this framework there are three core themes; Regenerating the Waterfront, Recreation and the Regional Park and Preserving and Promoting the Environment.
These themes will guide Mersey Waterfront’s ambition to be an outstanding regional park, a local, national and internationally renowned location – where community and commerce thrive together in an inspiring natural setting.
