WELCOME TO
MERSEY WATERFRONT
Phase One
The Regional Park concept emerged in the Regional Economic Strategy published by the Northwest Regional Development Agency in 2000 and has been developed as an integral part of the region’s strategic vision. Mersey Waterfront is the most advanced regional park in the Northwest and it is a long-term initiative which will develop over several phases.

During this period we have looked outwards to and learnt from other global waterfronts, taking on board their experience and building relationships with some of the most informed regeneration experts worldwide.

To date there have been almost 60 projects funded by Mersey Waterfront. Each one has been chosen for its strategic impact on economic, ecological, cultural or aesthetic value of the regional park area and the benefits that investment brings to the wider city region.

Through effective partnership working early achievements include ‘Another Place’, the Cruiseliner Landing Stage, Southport Pier Tram and visitor centres across the waterfront.
