The second phase of the Mersey Waterfront programme will continue to bring increasing investment to the coastline and create a long-term legacy, transforming and reconnecting those areas that have been overlooked and nurturing the truly special.
To focus activity to 2020 we have developed a strategic framework with three core themes – Regenerating the Waterfront, Recreation & the Regional Park and Preserving & Promoting the environment.
The programme will also develop the space of Mersey Waterfront into an understandable shorthand of rich quality experiences by developing the Regional Park Zone, Windows on the Waterfront, Linking the Regional Park and Making Quality Matter.
Funding will be channeled into a series of important and visionary projects, in strategic places. These will form the backbone of the second phase of Mersey Waterfront’s rennaissance with activity targeted to strike the balance between urban regeneration, leisure and tourism and the protection of natural resources.
Identified strategic places will include; Brand New Brighton, Pier Head Ferry Terminal, River of Light and Coastal Places, Open Spaces.
